Local-First Data Isolation
Flow is local-first. Your app data is stored on your device, and APEX Studio does not keep a server copy of your personal finance records.
Flow is a local-first Android personal finance app developed and published by APEX Studio, an independent open-source software brand founded by Subhodeep Rajak. This Privacy Policy explains how Flow handles information when you use the app.
1. Overview
Flow helps you record expenses, plan budgets, review spending insights, and create local backups. Flow does not require an account. Flow does not provide cloud sync. Flow does not upload your personal finance records to an APEX Studio server.
2. Information Stored Locally
Flow may store the following information locally on your device:
- Expenses, categories, and budgets you create in the app.
- Profile details such as display name and avatar selection.
- App preferences such as currency, theme, appearance, and reminder settings.
- Backup, import, and export-related settings required for app functionality.
This information is used only to provide Flow’s app features.
3. Data Collection
APEX Studio does not collect your personal finance records from Flow. Flow does not collect, transmit, sell, rent, or share your expenses, budgets, categories, profile details, or backup files with APEX Studio.
4. Data Sharing
Flow does not share your personal finance data with APEX Studio or third-party advertising, analytics, or marketing services.
If you choose to export a backup file, you control where that file is saved or shared. Any sharing you perform outside Flow, such as uploading a backup file to cloud storage or sending it to another person, is controlled by you and may be subject to the privacy policy of that external service.
5. Backups and Import/Export
Flow allows you to export and import backup files so you can keep a copy of your app data.
Backup files are created only when you choose to export them. These files may contain Flow app data, including expenses, budgets, categories, profile details, and preferences. You are responsible for storing exported backup files securely.
When you import a backup file, Flow reads the selected file to restore app data locally on your device.
6. App Permissions
Flow may request permissions only when required for app features.
Notifications: If reminders are enabled, Flow may use notification permission to show local reminders on your device.
Storage or file access: Flow may use Android file access features when you import or export backup files.
Flow does not use these permissions to upload your personal finance data to APEX Studio.
7. Security
Flow is designed as a local-first app. Your app data is stored on your device, and APEX Studio does not keep a server copy of your personal finance records.
When you export a backup, Flow creates a user-controlled backup file in the Downloads/Flow Backup/ folder on your device. You are responsible for keeping exported backup files secure.
8. Data Retention and Deletion
Flow keeps your app data locally on your device until you edit it, delete it, clear app data, uninstall the app, or reset your Flow profile.
You can delete records inside the app where deletion options are available. You can also remove Flow data by clearing the app’s storage from Android settings or uninstalling the app.
Exported backup files are not automatically deleted by Flow after export. You must delete exported backup files manually from the Downloads/Flow Backup/ folder.
9. Children’s Privacy
Flow is a general personal finance utility and is not directed specifically to children. Flow does not knowingly collect personal data from children through an APEX Studio server.
10. Third-Party Services and Links
Flow may include links to external resources such as the official GitHub repository, support email, or app distribution pages. Opening those links may take you outside Flow. External websites and services are governed by their own privacy policies.
Google Play may process certain information independently when you install, update, review, or interact with Flow through Google Play. That processing is handled by Google under Google’s policies, not by Flow’s local app database.
11. Changes to This Privacy Policy
APEX Studio may update this Privacy Policy when Flow changes or when legal, platform, or policy requirements change. The updated version will be posted on the official Flow website.
This Privacy Policy is intended to match Flow’s Google Play Data Safety disclosures. If Flow’s features, permissions, or third-party SDKs change in a way that affects data handling, this Privacy Policy and the Google Play Data Safety form will be updated accordingly.
